Welcome to Bergen Food Festival and Norwegian Cider Festival 6th – 7th of September 2024!

Join us in the heart of Fjord Norway for a culinary journey nestled between majestic mountains and deep fjords at the Bergen Food Festival and Norwegian Cider Festival.

Wander through Bergen’s vibrant city center and discover an array of local food artisans showcasing their culinary creations at their stands. Beyond the stalls, indulge in specially crafted festival menus at participating restaurants and partake in exceptional food workshops led by renowned chefs and local producers.

We are working on the 2024 program – to be launched in June.

Matarena AS is the organizer of the Bergen Food Festival and Norwegian Cider Festival.

LOCAL FOOD PARTY AT FESTPLASSEN AND TORGALLMENNINGEN:

Celebrate the region’s gastronomy at Festplassen and Torgallmenningen, where Western Norway’s finest food and drinks await. This is your marketplace for freshly harvested local vegetables, fruits, berries, as well as an assortment of cheeses, meats, and seafood sold directly by the producers. Norwegian Cider Festival is also arranged at Festplassen.

NORWEGIAN CIDER FESTIVAL

Experience the Norwegian Cider Festival at Festplassen, in our designated «cider area». Meet cider makers from across the country and sample their unique brews. The festival also features a variety of other local beverages, from local beers to gins and the traditional aquavit.

LEARN FROM THE BEST – INSPIRING FOOD  COURSES

During the festival you can join the food courses to learn a lot about seasonal ingredients and various local dishes. The courses are held by the best chefs in the region, and you also get to meet some of the food producers – all ready to inspire you! You can learn how to make seafood dishes, prepare oysters and shells in combination with the world’s best gin, ciders and beer, and also how the chefs prepare signature dishes of the region. Tickets will be launched in the end of June.

FESTIVAL RESTAURANTS

The festival also showcases some of the best restaurants from Bergen that serve delicious festival menus made with local produce. During the festival, over 35 restaurants will have festival events that show you unique, local flavors in a whole new way. Several of the restaurants have festival menus throughout the week. 

YOUNG FOOD FEST

For our younger enthusiasts, the Young Food Fest caters to children and teens aged 6 to 16. It’s a place of discovery, where they can explore sea and land bounty, cook in the open air, and experience new tastes like seaweed and kelp.

BERGEN – UNESCO CITY OF GASTRONOMY

Through Bergen’s membership in UNESCO CITY OF GASTRONOMY network, Bergen collaborates with a number of cities around the world. In the network, the cities share experiences related to food, creativity and gastronomy. This year we will invite several European Unesco Gastronomy cities to the festival where we get to share experiences and to know their food culture, gastronomy and some of the chefs.
