Day trip from Bergen to Hardangerfjord. Bus from Bergen to Norheimsund, fjord cruise on a RIB boat and a walk to the beautiful Steinsdalsfossen waterfall.
Join an eventful day trip from Bergen to the famous Hardangerfjord. The trip starts by taking a scheduled bus service from Bergen to Norheimsund. In Norheimsund, you can experience a fjord cruise on a RIB boat and the Steinsdalsfossen waterfall, one of Norway’s most visited attractions.
From the quay in Norheimsund, Norheimsund RIB Seafari takes you on the ultimate Hardangerfjord experience. You will get to experience the fjord landscape at close range, and we take you to idyllic places that are characteristic of the area. Norheimsund RIB Seafari wishes to give you an experience in nature, and offers tours suitable for everyone. Stops to take photographs have been factored in, so that the experience can be preserved for posterity. The boat was new in 2019, has 12 individual seats and a crew certified by the Norwegian Maritime Authority.
At 08.20: Departure from Bergen Bus Station terminal O on Skyss scheduled bus service no. 925.
You can buy bus tickets from the ticket machines at Bergen Bus Station or buy them in Norwegian kroner when you board the bus. The bus journey takes you through a varied landscape until you arrive at the Hardangerfjord in Norheimsund. The bus ticket is NOK 79 (adult) each direction.
At 09.45: Arrival Norheimsund.
Disembark at the bus stop in Norheimsund by Thon Hotel Sandven. The stop will be announced over the speakers and on digital screens on the bus.
At 10.00: Fjord cruise on a RIB boat, duration 50 minutes.
The trip starts at Norheimsund Gjestehamn (guest marina), approximately 150 metres from the bus stop. You meet the boat’s crew beside the boat. Passengers are given dry suits and goggles, and you go through the safety procedures. There are also facilities for storing luggage, a cloakroom and lavatories. The trip takes you up the magnificent Hardangerfjord with views of the Folgefonna glacier. We pay a visit to Stekka by Tørvikbygd, before the trip continues to idyllic Jondal, which is beautifully located on the Folgefonn peninsula. After a leisurely trip in the inner harbour, the journey continues to the farm Solesnes, which you see best from the sea. From our open RIB boat, you get a unique insight into the communities and life along the fjord. You will see a varied and beautiful landscape along the Hardangerfjord, with well-tended villages, orchards, and the glacier Folgefonna resting on the mountain tops.
At 11.00: Return to Norheimsund.
Norheimsund is a charming village with long trade and service traditions. A colourful mix of small and large shops, hotels, cafés and restaurants can be found on the main street. There is a nice path along the edge of the fjord leading to a park area with a sandy beach and on to Hardanger Maritime Centre, which is one of three national maritime museums in Norway. Hardanger has long wooden boat building traditions. Exhibitions, films, coffee shop, and guided tours of the museum. You can buy a ticket for a guided tour in the café.
At 16.00: Recommended departure time from Norheimsund to Steinsdalsfossen waterfall.
Steinsdalsfossen is one of the most visited waterfalls in Norway, and it is special because you can walk behind it without getting wet. The waterfall is situated 2.5 km from the centre of Norheimsund towards Bergen. It is a lovely walk in easy terrain from the centre up to the waterfall, which takes approx. 30–45 minutes. Tourist information, a café, a souvenir shop and lavatories are located by Steinsdalsfossen.
At 17.45 or 18.45: Departure to Bergen:
Return to Bergen on Skyss scheduled bus service no. 925, at 17.45 or scheduled bus service no. 930, at 18.45. Wait at the bus stop by the main road on the Steinsdalsfossen side. You can also take the bus from the bus terminal at Norheimsund if you do not want to see Steinsdalsfossen waterfall (same departure times).
Arrival in Bergen, at 19.10 or 20.05.
The lower age limit for children is four years.
You can buy tickets at the Tourist Information in Bergen or book them online here. The return bus ticket from Bergen comes in addition. The bus trip is free with the Bergen Card.
The trip must be booked by 22:30 the day before departure at the latest.
If you cancel up to two hours before departure, the amount paid will be refunded. No refund is given for trips cancelled after this. Send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org to cancel a trip.
Your email confirmation is your receipt. Please bring a printed receipt or show the confirmation on your mobile phone before the RIB trip in Norheimsund.
