With its 3000 m Fyllingsdalstunnelen is the world’s longest purpose-built pedestrian and cycling tunnel. The tunnel is one of two tunnels in the new pedestrian and cycling path from the city center to Fyllingsdalen in Bergen. The path is 7.8 km long in total and takes about 25 minutes to bike. It runs parallel to the new light rail line which was opened in November 2022.

The opening weekend included a bicycle parade as well as several different running and biking races for all ages and other fun family friendly activities.

A blue rubber flooring is laid for runners in Fyllingsdaltunnelen, making the tunnel a perfect place for running on rainy days.
The opening of the new pedestrian and cycling paths is part of a decade long and continues strategy to make Bergen a more environmentally friendly and sustainable city.
Ranking first on the environmental category on The Global Destination Sustainability Index in 2022, Bergen is already taking the lead on sustainable development.
