After a major renovation, the Fresco Hall has now finally reopened.
The Fresco Hall is part of the old stock exchange building, which was built in 1861-82, and is considered one of Norway's national art treasures. The Fresco Hall is decorated with frescoes painted by Axel Revold in the years 1921-23, the motifs in the frescoes linked to Bergen's business life.
De Bergenske is a chain of hotels and restaurants with a love for Bergen. They already operate the Bergen Børs hotel and the Michelin restaurant Bare in the same building, and have now opened the Fresco Hall as a large restaurant with the main emphasis on seafood.
The hall has undergone a major refurbishment where the frescoes have been washed, cleaned and restored. In addition, the floor has been excavated and recast. The interior of the new restaurant is designed by Claesson Koivisto Rune - the Swedish architects behind K5 in Tokyo and Nobis in Stockholm.

De Bergenske want The Fresco Hall to become one of Bergen's culinary landmarks, a place where both people from Bergen and visitors can drink coffee and eat cake, have a beer or spend the whole evening with a full dinner.
Next door to the restaurant is also a gin bar, run by Stig Bareksten, the man behind the award-winning Bareksten gin.
