The Fjord Line ferry service between Hirtshals in Denmark, and Bergen, is a popular connection between the European continent and Norway.
It is an overnight cruise taking around 18 hours. The first stop in Norway on the route from Hirtshals is in the city of Stavanger south of Bergen. From Stavanger the journey continues for about 5,5 hours to Bergen. The cruise between Stavanger and Bergen offers fantastic views of the Norwegian coastline.
It is also possible to take the ferry between Stavanger and Bergen as a domestic service only. The ferries are modern, comfortable, and have large panoramic windows so everyone on board can enjoy the beautiful views. Fjord Line’s ships MS Stavangerfjord and MS Bergensfjord are the first and largest cruise ships in the world that sail solely on eco-friendly natural gas.
When travelling around the Fjord Norway region the most common means of transport for groups is by bus. Travelling by bus gives you great flexibility when planning your route. Read more about how to drive to Bergen from Oslo, Stavanger, Ålesund and more.
