You are here: Plan Your Event Pre & Post tours 3 Day program
Welcome to Bergen in the heart of the fjords. A World Heritage City and European City of Culture!
Upon arrival day it is time to get to know Bergen and its history with a professional guide by foot, or using a GPS or bicycle for a more active tour. It is also possible to rent segways for a city tour.
City sightseeing and World Heritage Site - Bryggen
Bergen grew up around its colourful harbour - it was the hub of commerce, seafaring and crafts-manship. We became the north's largest city, Norway's first capital city and the seat of royalty. So important was Bergen by the 13th century that the Hanseatics - the German medieval guild of merchants - opened one of their four European offices on the wharf called Bryggen.
The best way to get to know Bergen is to start with its history. The group can experience the city in an active way by having a guided trip in the city with the help of either a digital GPS game, segway or bicycles. Get to know Bergen and learn the unique historical UNESCO site Bryggen, the charming narrow alleys in the old wooden houses of Bergen, the fish market, the city of culture etc.
Mountain high
Follow up with lunch at one of Bergen's mountain top restaurants with a breath-taking view of Bergen! At Mount Fløyen you can enjoy a spectacular view and have your lunch in fresh air in the woods or by the lake. There is also a restaurant by the funicular station, Fløirestauranten, with a capacity of 250 people in one room or 400 people in the whole building. Mt. Fløyen is also a perfect base for activities such as hiking, team-building activites or just recreation. The Funicular takes you to a fantastic area of beautiful natural surroundings with countless opportunities for walking, hiking, activities in the woods and mountains. You can also get a guided tour including a bonfire lunch etc. There is also a lake where activites such as canoeing, GPS hunting, biking or barbeque can be organized in beautiful settings. To get to Mt. Fløyen you can either walk (ca. 40 minutes) or take the funicular - Fløibanen - which only takes 6 minutes and has a capacity of 70 people in one of the two funiculars (trains).
Alternative: Go on top of the highest mountain out of the seven mountains surrounding Bergen - Mount Ulriken
Experience Bergen and the region at 643 meters above sea level with a breathing-taking view! The cable car - Ulriksbanen - gives you a safe and enjoyable ride only 8 minutes one way (max capacity each cable car wagon is 15 people – there are 2 wagons in total). At the mountain top you can have a beautiful hiking trip or several activities from soft to extreme such as GPS tour, climbing, paragliding etc. Combine the trip with a lunch or dinner at Skyskraperen Restaurant which has a strong focus on local produced food. The capacity in the restaurant is 200 people for dining.
For dinner we recommend a visit to one of Norway’s best seafood restaurants – Cornelius Seafood restaurant. It is situated right by the sea on a small island with spectacular views of the fjord, mountains, skerries, and passing boats and ships. Inspired by the weather of the day, Cornelius serves its famous Meteorological Menu of exquisite seafood and trimmings, prepared using innovative culinary techniques and with a genuine passion for seafood. Capacity for up to 350 people divided on 6 different rooms. They offer transportation with a scheduled boat or you can charter a private boat.
There are many organised sightseeing and fjord tours of varying lengths that you are guaranteed to find memorable. Norway's most popular round trip Norway in a nutshell® starts and ends in Bergen. The trip takes you through some of Norway's most beautiful fjord scenery. You can experience the scenic Bergen Railway, the breathtaking Flåm Railway, the Aurlandsfjord, the narrow Nærøyfjord and the steep hairpin bends of Stalheimskleiva (May-September). The trip runs daily all year. You can of course get your tailor made fjord trip with a local organizer as well.
