Based on first-rate produce from the deep sea and the fertile mountain pastures, Bergen has a rich traditional culinary culture. The Bergen region has a growing number of internationally renowned restaurants with creative culinary artists at the helm.
In Bergen, you will find Gaptast and Lysverket, each awarded a Michelin star.
- Lysverket offers modern Nordic cuisine with a focus on seafood from Western Norway, as well as seasonal meat and vegetarian dishes. The restaurant is run and owned by chef Christopher Haatuft.
- Gaptrast Restaurant is a mysterious and intimate restaurant with a fixed 22-course menu. Here, seasonal ingredients take centre stage, sourced directly from Western Norwegian fishermen, farmers, and hunters.
- Cornelius Seafood Restaurant is one of Norway’s absolutely finest seafood restaurants. Located on a small island outside of Bergen, it has spectacular views of the fjord, mountains and skerries. Cornelius serves exquisite seafood, prepared using innovative culinary techniques and with a genuine passion.
- At Mirabelle by Ørjan Johannessen, you get a fine combination of luxury and comfort. In the top floor of the boutique hotel Beckerwyc House in Austevoll, you can watch Bocuse d'Or winner Ørjan Johannessen and his team working around the open kitchen, serving you food inspired by nature, the sea, and the diversity around us. To get to Bekkjarvik from Bergen, you can take the express boat or drive (about 1.5 hours including a ferry).
