You are here: Home Food & Drink Pubs & Bars A guide to Bergen's microbreweries
Bergen has become a paradise for beer enthusiasts, regardless if you are interested in the craft, are brewing your own beer - or just would like to have a cold beer on Bryggen. No matter which of these you are, you are guaranteed to appreciate a proper visit to one of Bergen's microbreweries. Check out what you can experience at the breweries in Bergen!

Quality craft beer is easier to obtain than ever. Thanks to local small breweries the range in both convenience stores and liquor stores is growing. But maybe you want to learn more about the brewing itself, about the choice of ingredients and the traditional methods that are used? Or maybe you want to taste beer as fresh as you can get it - straight from the tank?
If you are interested in local craft beer from Bergen, 7Fjell Brewery is probably the first brewery that comes to mind. The popular microbrewery is also a natural choice if you want to get close to the actual production of the golden drink. 7Fjell has its own "tap room" in the middle of the brewery - a room where you can participate in beer tastings, or book for a private event.
In addition, 7Fjell holds an “open brewery” on the last Friday of each month. These Fridays they open both floors for visitors - including the production and the warehouse, and you can get guided tours, tastings and a bite to eat. The brewery is located in Fjellsdalen on Bønes, south of Bergen city center.

Bryggeriet Microbryggeri (The Brewery Microbrewery) is not only located right in the heart of Bergen - the microbrewery is located right in the heart of the restaurant! It's not as confusing as it sounds. Do you want to check for yourself? No problem - at Bryggeriet Microbryggeri you can get both guided tours and lectures. Learn about ingredients, history and the brewing process from brewery master Gareth Stewart himself. And of course you get to taste the goods.
Just over 15 minutes drive from Bergen city center, in Arna Industrihus in Ytre Arna, you will find Lysefjorden brewery. They are always happy for people to visit! They hold beer tastings, guided tours, brewing courses and lectures for groups of at least 12 people. Occasionally they also have an “open brewery day”, where they set up their own bar and invite visitors into the premises.
Beer tasting, brewing course - or maybe a beer safari? Ølakademiet is not a microbrewery, but still a good place to start if you want to learn more about beer. As an independent company founded by beer enthusiasts, they tell stories from the realm of hops and malt. At Ølakademiet you can sign up regardless of whether you are on your own or part of a beer-thirsty group.
