Transport & Travel with the Bergen Card

To get the most out of your stay in Bergen, you need an effective and affordable way to get from A to B. With the Bergen Card you travel for free with Skyss’ busses and Bergen Light Railway in the city centre and Vestland county.

To and from the Airport and Bergen city center:

With the Bergen Card, you can travel for free on Bergen Light Rail (Bybanen) line 1 between the city centre and the airport.

Read more about how to get to and from the airport here.

Please note that the Bergen Card is not valid on Vy trains (for example for the Bergen to Oslo service), express buses or the Airport bus.

How to travel in the Bergen region with the Bergen Card

Skyss is the company that operates public transport in Bergen and across Vestland county. With the Bergen Card, you can travel for free on Skyss buses, the Bergen Light Rail, and some boats within the zone A. There's no need to buy a separate ticket - just show your valid Bergen Card when boarding or during ticket inspections.

You can use the Bergen Light Rail to visit attractions like Edvard Grieg’s home, Troldhaugen, and the Fantoft Stave Church. Skyss buses take you to places such as Old Bergen Museum, Lysøen Island, or even as far as the Hardangerfjord and Odda, if you're planning to hike Trolltunga.

How to travel from Bergen to Odda with the Bergen Card (for Trolltunga hike):

  • Take Skyss bus 930 from Bergen Bus Station to Odda Station. The ferry crossing between Tørvikbygd and Jondal is included.
  • Travel time: approx. 3 hours.

Please note: It is not possible to travel from Bergen and complete the Trolltunga hike on the same day, as the hike takes 10–12 hours.

How to travel from Bergen to Voss with the Bergen Card:

  • Take Skyss bus 950 from Bergen Bus Station to Voss Station.
  • Travel time: approx. 1 hour 40 minutes.

This bus only departs once a day, around 18:30—check updated schedules at skyss.no.

Faster options like express buses and trains are not included in the Bergen Card. The train is the preferred choice for most travelers between Bergen and Voss.

It is possible to travel to Flåm with Skyss using the Bergen Card, but it is not recommended due to the long travel time. Most travelers prefer to go by train or express bus.
