Here’s what you should do!

Weekend Trip From Aberdeen to Bergen

As you might already know, you can fly from Aberdeen to Bergen, Norway! But should you? Most definitely. And what is there to do in Bergen? A whole lot! Let us give you a quick rundown.

Bergen is famous for being the heart of the fjords. So if you’ve always wanted to see these remarkable spectacles of nature, or you’re just fjord-curious, there’s no better place to start. But that’s far from everything beautiful Bergen has to offer.

3 days to experience the essence of Bergen

Seeing as the airplane departs every day, you have a lot of options when planning your trip to Bergen. We've packed a full 3-day program for you to help you along the way. That doesn’t mean you can’t stay longer – you definitely should – but you can get a "complete" Bergen-experience in 3 days.

The flight between Aberdeen and Bergen is operated by Widerøe and departs twice a day. The flight time is 1 hour and 20 minutes. To get from Bergen Airport Flesland to the city center will take you around half an hour.

Day 1 - The highlights of Bergen

Bryggen – a Unesco World Heritage Site

This is where the story of Bergen begins. And what a story it is. Experience Bryggen and medieval ruins, see remnants of a distant past - a city that burned and was rebuilt -and learn about merchant societies centuries old. Day 3 - Culture and Music

A concert with music from Edvard Grieg

Culturally insatiable? We wholeheartedly recommend this lunchtime concert - an introduction to Edvard Grieg's piano music (Grieg was from Bergen, you know?). Not only do you get a thrilling concert in Troldsalen – perhaps Norway’s most beautiful chamber music hall – you also get a guided tour through Grieg’s villa, cabin and gravesite. The lunchtime concert is available during the summer. Read more about Troldhaugen Home of Composer Edvard Grieg.
