You are here: Home Ideas & Inspiration Explore Bergen Workation in the Bergen region
Are you sitting in your “new” office at home, daydreaming about going on holiday again? Why not go on a workation and turn the home office into an "away office"?
Treat yourself to a much-needed mental replenishment by experiencing something new every day, while at the same time working as effective as usual. A workation can last as long as you want to, or maybe we should say as long as you need to? It's fine to bring your girlfriend and dog too, they will probably be happy to keep you company.
A workation is an excellent way to make your life a little better. Make more time for the things you love to do and experience something new every day.
In the city centre of Bergen, there are several hotels that offer workations. Perfect if shops, museums and eateries within walking distance are what you are looking for.
At Hotel Park, you will find everything you need in order to work efficiently. There is a desk in the room and they have good wifi throughout the hotel. The staff are always ready to help, so feel free to ask to borrow a meeting room if you need more space while working or just want a change of location. Hotel Park is located on “Høyden”, close to Nygårdsparken. A great area for short walks before work or at lunch time.

Bergen Børs Hotel is located in the former stock exchange building in Bergen, which is now turned into an exquisite hotel with a delicate classic/modern style.
The hotel is located in the “heart” of Bergen with Torgallmenningen and Fløibanen more or less right outside the door.

The hotels we have listed below are all suitable for longer stays and can be used as your new home office. They are located centrally in Bergen, offer good quality wifi and have high quality meeting facilities.
If you find it more inspiring to work in an office environment, the city centre of Bergen also offers several places for "coworking". Here are some of these:
How about a workation on the coast? In the region surrounding Bergen, there are many beautiful places where you can combine work with pleasure . The weather along the coast is often wild, which makes for fantastic nature experiences after work. When the weather is good, you can choose to work outside in the most spectacular “office” you’ll ever be in. The sound of waves is known to reduce both stress levels and inspire new thoughts.
The old fishing village and trading place Glesvær on Sotra (only 40 minutes drive from Bergen) is the perfect place for a workation. You can stay at Glesvær Rorbu, in a cozy “rorbu” apartment, with both good wifi and cell phone coverage. At Glesvær you can walk in the skerries, fish from a boat or quay, and enjoy a good meal at Glesvær Café.

Approximately 1.5 hours by express boat from Bergen lies Skjerjehamn, on a small islet beautifully located on the coast. At Skjerjehamn it feels like time moves slower and it is a great place to find new energy and motivation. Stay in a Swiss villa or one of the newly renovated apartments, and after work, the island offers fantastic hiking opportunities and activities such as fishing and swimming.

These accommodations are all located in beautiful surroundings along the coast and are suitable for longer stays. They all offer good quality wifi.
If you don't have the opportunity to go on a workation for a longer period of time, perhaps a weekend trip to Bergen is the way to go. Tell your boss about all the new energy you will get in Bergen, and we’re sure a day or two extra is no problem!
If you already live in Bergen, why not take the opportunity to explore Bergen between meetings at Teams? Take a break at one of Bergen's many cafes, go for a walk in the mountains surrounding the city or go to a museum and learn something new. Invite a colleague to join you, experiences are best when shared.
