Golf in Bergen, Norway - where the landscape is part of the game

Golf in the Bergen region is about more than great courses, it is about playing surrounded by some of Norway’s most spectacular landscapes.

Within a short drive of the city, you can choose between three very different golfing experiences, from parkland and forest to dramatic coastal scenery.

For a truly memorable round, head north to Meland Golf Club, an 18-hole championship course set in the varied Norwegian landscape of Alver. Here, narrow fairways, forest, undulating greens, changing winds and sweeping views make every round a test of both skill and strategy. With no traffic or urban noise, the feeling is more like playing in the heart of nature than on a golf course.

For something completely different, make your way to Herdla Golf on the island of Herdla. This friendly 9-hole seaside course was inspired by Scottish golf and offers sea views from every single hole. With the Hjeltefjord on one side and Herdlefjord on the other, you may find yourself sharing the course with sea eagles, seabirds and, if you're really lucky, even whales or orcas passing offshore.

Closer to Bergen, Fana Golf Club offers an 18-hole park and forest course in peaceful surroundings by Skeievannet, a convenient choice if you want to combine a round of golf with time in the city.

Whichever course you choose, golf around Bergen offers something that is hard to replicate elsewhere: challenging golf played against a backdrop of fjords, forests, mountains and the sea.

Remember to book in advance to secure a tee time, especially during peak season.
