A letter from 1641 is the oldest proof that there has long been a hostelry at Skjerjehamn. Time seems to have almost stood still in the old Swiss-style villa. Even though it has been modernised to meet today’s standards, its original style has been preserved.

The easiest and most picturesque way of getting here is by express boat from Bergen, from where there are several daily departures. The boat passes through narrow sounds and canals, making the journey an experience in itself!

Skjerjehamn – the old trading post by the sea
You will find us at the mouth of the Sognefjord, one of the longest fjords in the world. The sea has provided a livelihood for people in Skjerjehamn for thousands of years. Skjerjehamn has been an important hub for fishing, trade and industry, and in the early 20th century it was one of the biggest ports in Fjord Norway. Today, we create experiences for both tourists and local guests through activities, events and local culinary delights.
Restaurant
In our restaurant, you can enjoy an excellent meal with the focus on local food. Enjoy our own smoked trout or taste veal from a local farm. Locally brewed beer or other tasty beverages make an excellent accompaniment.
We can seat 110 guests in the restaurant and 35 in the Steenkjelleren function room.

Skjenkestova
Skjenkestova pub or the rooms in the Swiss-style villa can be used for functions, at which we serve our own smoked trout, cured meat and locally brewed beer.
Accommodation – stay in the Swiss-style villa or in the converted warehouse on the wharf
None of the rooms have a TV or minibar. Here, you can relax completely and do things in your own time. The buildings have been restored recently, but retain their 19th century character.
We have a total of 17 single and double rooms in the Swiss-style villa.
We have five apartments in the converted warehouse (Pakkhuset) that can sleep 7–8 guests. We can accommodate a total of 73 guests.
Meetings and conferences
At Skjerjehamn, we can tailor packages to your wishes and needs. The conference room has capacity for 20 persons, while the cinema has room for 30 and the gallery can seat 15 people. The rooms have all the required technical equipment, and everything you need for a productive course or conference. For larger groups, we use the restaurant as a meeting room. Capacity of 110 pax
Weddings and functions
Everything is laid on. We have extensive experience of organising large and small functions, and we plan your big day together with you.
Skjerjehamn is approved for outdoor wedding ceremonies, and it’s a good idea to book early. Wedding groups are usually so big that they fully utilise our overnight capacity, which makes Skjerjehamn an ideal and personal location for wedding celebrations.
Marina
If you come in your own boat, you can rent a berth in our marina, which offers easy access to both electricity and water. The sanitary facilities (showers and WC) and Wi-Fi are included in the price. You can also use our laundry.
Motorhomes
We have parking spaces with electricity for motorhomes.

ACTIVITIES AT SKJERJEHAMN:
Bicycle and SUP rental.
At the store, you can rent bicycles and SUP boards to explore the local area, both on water and on land.
Hot tub
Enjoy the view and the sunset in our new salt water hot tubs.
Fjord trout safari
Jump aboard our RIB boat Firda Explorer and enjoy a guided trip out to one of Firda Seafood’s fish farms and see for yourself how we farm trout.
Blue Garden
The Blue Garden is an outdoor exhibition about aquaculture. Various analogue installations tell you how salmon and trout are farmed in Norway today, and why this will be important for the world going forward. The exhibition is shown beside a roughly 300-metre-long path at Skjerjehamn. The signs are in English, and a free brochure with a Norwegian translation is available in the old shop, Landhandelen.
Vestefjellet hill
A walk up to the 160-metre-high Vestefjellet hill makes a perfect start to the day, or a nice break before dinner. The path is marked and starts 900 metres from Skjerjehamn. It's an easy walk through undulating terrain with some boggy sections. This far west, you don’t need to climb big mountain summits to get great views of the islands and the ocean beyond.
