You are here: Ideas & Inspiration Explore Bergen Seven unique accommodations in the Bergen region
The Bergen region has a lot to offer, with city, mountains, fjords, coastal landscapes, and islands. Whether you are coming from far away, or just want a break from everyday life, we have seven tips for unique accommodations in the Bergen region.
Tubakuba was designed and built by second-year students at Bergen School of Architecture. The cabin is located on Mount Fløyen and can be rented for free of charge for families with children under 12. The purpose is to promote outdoor life and get more children out into nature. With countless hiking trails, playgrounds and many other activities at Mount Fløyen, it is easy to stay active throughout the day. When evening comes, you can crawl into the cabin and enjoy the beautiful panoramic views of Bergen city center through the large glass window. The cabin is miminalistically furnished and you have to bring all the equipment yourself.

Kiellandbu is well situated on the Løkjedalsnuten in classic fjord landscape with views from mountain to fjord. It is a small, cozy cabin with five beds and a small kitchenette. The cabin can be reached by walking approximately two hours from Hodnaberg in Bergsdalen through beautiful nature. When you arrive, you will be rewarded with magnificent views towards Botnen, Fyksesund and Folgefonna on the other side of the Hardangerfjord.

At Gripen Farm you can stay in scenic surroundings with sheep grazing right outside the house. The cozy mini cabin has an old-fashioned wood oven that can be used for both heating and cooking. Foods such as vegetables, meats, dried mushrooms, crispbreads and freshly hatched eggs can be bought directly from the farm. It doesn't get more local! If you do not want to cook yourself, you can also order meals from the host.
Experience the tranquility of the forest with the sounds of birds chirping and charming sheep breaking while reading a book, or perhaps knitting with yarn made from your new neighbors, the sheep. If you get restless, there are good hiking opportunities, and you can also borrow fishing equipment.
The sheep on the farm are of the old Norse sheep type, which is one of the oldest sheep breeds in Norway. The Vikings used wool from this breed to make raincoats during their time! And when we talk about Vikings and wool, join the Wool Heritage Route, which takes you on a journey from the Viking Age to modern design.

Zero meters above sea level, at the very edge of Ånesvika you will find a small cabin with accommodation for five people. To get to the cabin, you can either walk (about 1.5 hours roundtrip), or paddle (about 2 hours from Møvik harbor). When you arrive, you can enjoy the silence and blue sea as far as the eye can see, and as the sun goes down, you can fall asleep to the sound of the waves breaking against the mountain below you.
