About
The gondola, part of Voss Resort, is open all year and offers spectacular views, amazing nature experiences, local food at its best, and a variety of activities in every season.
Unique location at Voss Station
The lower gondola station is uniquely located at Voss Station, easily accessible by both bus and train as part of the Bergen Railway. The upper station is located at Hangurstoppen (818 m.a.s.l.), meaning you can travel from Bergen city center to Hangurstoppen on Voss in just 1.5 hours in a simple and environmentally friendly way.
The gondola consists of nine cabins, each accommodating 34 people, and operates continuously. This ensures minimal queues and no long waits to reach the mountains.
Hangurstoppen Restaurant
At the top station, you'll find Hangurstoppen Restaurant, the largest restaurant in Voss. It serves homemade dishes with a focus on locally sourced ingredients, all prepared from scratch. The menu is simple yet rich in flavor, seasonally adapted, and highlights the best of the region's produce. The restaurant also offers stunning panoramic views, truly immersing you in the high-mountain atmosphere.
Plenty to explore – summer and winter
Hangurstoppen and its surroundings are perfect for nature experiences, relaxation, and recreation, but also offer challenging workouts and long hikes for those who prefer something more demanding.
During the summer, you'll find hiking trails for all levels – from universally accessible routes to more rugged trails where hiking boots are recommended. All trails are well-marked and available on a dedicated hiking map.
Hanguren Panorama – an easy hike with breathtaking views
Hanguren Panorama is a short and easy circular walk (about 800 meters), perfect for wheelchairs and strollers. The trail starts right at the gondola's top station and offers several stunning viewpoints overlooking Voss town center and Vangsvatnet lake – ideal for photos and breaks.
There are several Instagram-worthy spots, and you might even spot paragliders launching off the mountain.
For a real "extreme sports" feeling, try Hangurshusko, a swing that lets you soar high over Voss. It is suitable for all ages and is located along the Hanguren Panorama trail, near the top station.
If you want to continue hiking, you can walk down to the old Hangursrestaurant or follow the trail to Mølstertunet and Voss town center. Longer hikes lead to Røde Kors-hytta, Valbergstjørni lake, or even further to Raugstad, Lønahorgi, and Bavallen.
Winter activities
In winter, you have direct access to Voss Resort, Western Norway's largest ski resort. With over 40 km of ski slopes and 23 runs for all levels, plus 18 km of cross-country trails, there is something for everyone.
To maximize your day on the slopes, combine daytime skiing with night skiing, as Voss offers one of Europe's best night skiing facilities.
Need equipment or lessons? You'll find a ski school and rental shop at Hangurstoppen. The gondola is included in all ski passes, and children under 7 years old ride for free.
Accessibility and Universal Design
Voss Resort is designed to be accessible for everyone. About half of the gondola cabins have been modified by removing the middle bench to provide extra space for wheelchairs or strollers.
The gondola moves very slowly at boarding and exit points, and it can be completely stopped if needed. At Hangurstoppen, there is a dedicated entrance/exit for wheelchairs and strollers, and several summer hiking trails are universally designed.
Hangurstoppen Restaurant is spacious, and an elevator connects the different levels for easy access.
Meetings, Conferences & Events – An Experience with a View
Imagine taking a gondola to your meeting or event! Combine business and social activities with stunning nature experiences and host your meeting, course, or private event at Hangurstoppen.
We offer customized experiences to suit your needs, and the restaurant can be divided into private sections for exclusive gatherings.
Need accommodation? There are three hotels in Voss town center, just a short walk from the gondola's lower station. Alternatively, you can rent a cabin or apartment at Voss Resort, offering stunning views over Voss's rivers and mountains while being close to everything.
Voss – A Vibrant Town in Every Season
Voss is alive all year round, offering world-famous festivals such as Vossa Jazz, Ekstremsportveko, and Voss Cup. The town also has a wide range of activities, including rafting, an indoor skydiving wind tunnel, a climbing park, a playground, and bowling.
You'll also find great shopping, dining, and cultural experiences – all within walking distance from the train station and Voss Gondol.
