Hurtigruten Norwegian Coastal Express is the world's most beautiful voyage, going along the entire Norwegian coast from Kirkenes to Bergen.
The World’s most beautiful sea voyage both starts and ends in Bergen, the city between the seven mountains. A magnificent view to Bergen harbor, Vågen, Byfjorden and Puddefjorden is a spectacular start to the 12 day long adventure with the Hurtigruten between Bergen and Kirkenes.
The voyage starts by entering the beautiful Hjeltefjorden, where the Vikings traveled as they headed towards Shetland and further out in the world. On a round-trip with Hurtigruten you visit 34 harbors – 22 of them are located north of the Polar Circle. A voyage with one of the 11 coastal ships offers a wide range of experiences and activities during all seasons, all year around.
On the northbound route, Hurtigruten visits cities like Ålesund, Trondheim and Tromsø. On the way south Hurtigruten stops at Lofoten, Trollfjorden and Helgelandskysten. The light and long summer days – as long as 19 hours as far south as Bergen – enables many spectacular nature experiences from the mornings until late evenings. During the winter season you can get the best view of the Northern Lights on clear days – an amazing light show that will blow your mind. A travel with Hurtigruten in winter time also offers fascinating winter activities; an exciting meeting with ice and snow.
With its lush flowery, majestic water falls, deep forests, high mountains and idyllic fjords, you are guaranteed a fantastic experience with the Hurtigruten from Bergen. Bergen has a long tradition as being one of Norway’s biggest seaports, and it has always been a natural turnaround port of the Hurtigruten. Many chose to combine a trip with Hurtigruten with a stay in Bergen, to experience the rich culture life, the magnificent nature and the proud history of Norway’s second largest city.
During the 1800’s, the 1250 nautical mile route along the Norwegian coast was known as a long harsh trip for all seafarers. Today, with its daily departures from Bergen, Hurtigruten is known as being the most reliable, comfortable and luxurious way of traveling between northern and southern Norway.
