The House of Literature in Bergen offers an all-around experience with cultural events, an independent bookshop and a restaurant.

About

The House of Literature is located in the street Østre Skostredet, just a stone's throw away from the Fish Market and Bryggen. In the House of Literature you get to enjoy cultural events, our independent bookshop Boksalongen, as well as the restaurant Colonialen. You may also make use of our house by renting out our rooms for your own events.

The House of Literature in Bergen does everything to make your event a success! We rent out to both companies and private people. Our rooms have different capacities and may be altered to your every need. This includes everything from panel talks, debates, meetings, concerts, baptisms, weddings, and more. We make it even easier for you to plan your company meeting - by choosing our conference deal you'll book the room and catering at the same time.

You may choose to eat in the meeting room, in the restaurant or in a chambre separée. Colonialen does bookings for more than a hundred people.

Colonialen is open from 11 AM to 11 PM. The brasserie and café excels with a rustic and personal character through an informal style. You may order coffee, lunch, a drink or dinner from the à la carte menu and three-course menu. On Saturdays Colonialen offers a very popular two-course Bubble Brunch.

The independent bookshop Boksalongen has a carefully selected variety of books in both Norwegian and English. The bookshop's space may be transformed into an event space at night with book releases and signings. There is a room within the bookshop, named Fosse-stova after the Nobel Prize winner Jon Fosse, that is open during the bookshop's opening hours. Those who want may use this space to read, write or lounge as they see fit.
