Nestled in the heart of Rosendal you will find Baroniet Rosendal, Norway's only barony, surrounded by majestic mountains and a picturesque cultural landscape. The manor is a stunning example of historical and artistic significance.
Karen Mowat and Ludvig Rosenkrantz received the Hatteberg farm in Kvinnherad as a wedding gift, and here they built their Manor which they called Rosendal. The Manor was completed in 1665. A visit to Baroniet Rosendal is a journey through different style eras from 1665 to how the last owners left it in 1927.
With guided tours conducted every hour during the summer season, visitors can explore the Manor House and experience this year's art exhibition by IDA and ELISA HELLAND-HANSEN. However, it's important to note that the main floor is not wheelchair accessible due to stairs and high doorsteps.

Rosendal Gardens
The Manor House is surrounded by a beautiful and historic garden consisting of a Renaissance garden and a romantic landscape park, as well as a kitchen garden.
Rosendal Gardens is a testament to changing styles and trends in gardening, spanning over 300 years of garden history.
From the first snowdrops appearing in January, there is blooming for most parts of the year. Spring is beautiful with fruit blossoms, tulips, Easter lilies, and Pentecost lilies. Early in the summer, the beautiful wisteria blooms, covering the south side of the castle with its beautiful blue flower vines. In June, rhododendrons, and azaleas bloom in many different colors. In July, the roses come into full bloom, and they continue to bloom well into the autumn.
Entrance to the Rosendal Gardens requires a separate ticket (see ticket prices).
From the Rosendal Gardens, visitors can also enjoy a picturesque view of the Rosendal mountains, Hatteberg waterfall, and the Hardangerfjord.
Feel free to combine your visit with a walk around the Hatteberg Waterfall. There is a new great hiking trail here where you can get close to the waterfall. A hike suitable for most (it is also possible to only walk parts of the trail but still experience the waterfall).
Food and Drink
After a day of exploring, guests can indulge in delicious food and drinks at the Rosendal Garden Café and Greenhouse. The menu is based on the season's harvest from the garden, and other locally sourced ingredients.
The Tea Room inside the Manor also serves coffee and tea, ice cream, and homemade cakes, making it the perfect place to unwind and relax.

Accommodation
For those looking to extend their visit, Baroniet Rosendal Home Farm & Fruehus offers comfortable accommodation with breakfast and the option of a 3-course dinner (must be booked in advance). The Home Farm and Fruehus have 23 rooms, available from May to September.
The Fruehus is located 300 m down the road from the Home Farm. Breakfast is served in the main building at the Home Farm.
Rosendal Home Farm & Fruehus are rustic buildings with stairs to all rooms, making them unsuitable for wheelchairs. Most rooms have sinks, with shared bathrooms in the hallway.
How to get to Baroniet Rosendal
The easiest way to get to Rosendal is with the Hardangerfjord Express.
This is a 2-hour beautiful boat trip from Bergen city center.
It takes about 2.5 hours to drive from Bergen to Rosendal. Here you will find a route description in Google Maps.
From the quay in Rosendal, it is a 1.5 kilometers nice walk up to the Manor House.
There is no public transport from the quay to the castle.

Baroniet Rosendal offers parking facilities for its guests at a rate of NOK 7525 per hour.

Bus parking
Baroniet Rosendal has available bus parking, marked on google maps here.. By appointment, buses can drive up to the garden entrance to drop off passengers.
