Road trips from Bergen:
The Bergen region has a fantastic coastline with thousands of islands. Small, picturesque villages line the fjords, perfect for exploring on a day trip from Bergen by car. Oslo - Bergen road trip:
Driving from Oslo to Bergen takes about 7-8 hours. However, we recommend allowing at least a full day for this journey, due to the fact that there is a lot of scenic places along the road where you definately don't want to miss. Bergen - Trondheim road trip:
The distance between Bergen and Trondheim is about 700 kilometers. In Norway the landscape is mountanous and the coast rugged, meaning that travel times are often longer than what visitors from other countries are used to. From Bergen to Trondheim it will take you around 11 hours, not including all the stops you definately would like to make along route! We therefore recommend to take an overnight stay or two along the way and really take your time to enjoy the beautiful scenery along the western coast of Norway. Skyss - the local buses in Bergen and the region:
Skyss operates all the buses in Bergen and the region called Vestland. If you have a Bergen Card, you get free transport with all buses operated by Skyss. It also includes free travel on the Bergen Light Rail to the airport.
You can also travel by bus between Stavanger and Bergen with Kystbussen. The bus trip takes about 5 hours and includes two ferries. It is a scenic road and a reasonable way of travelling between the two cities. (This is not operated by Skyss).
