There are many ways to get from Aalesund to Bergen. By plane the trip takes 45 minutes, by car it takes about 7 hours and 30 minutes, and if you travel by bus, you must expect the trip to last about 9 hours and 30 minutes.
If you choose to travel to Bergen from Aalesund on Hurtigruten, the journey takes just over 12 hours. No matter which alternative you choose, the trip is an experience in itself.
The flight between Aalesund and Bergen is short and only takes 45 minutes, when the plane doesn’t stop at smaller airports on the way to Bergen. The route is operated by several airlines, and there are a number of departures daily, at different times.

Sit back and relax, and enjoy the view of the fjord landscape while you look forward to your stay in Bergen. Getting from the airport to Bergen city center is quick and easy with the Bergen Light Rail or the Airport Bus.
If you travel by car between Ålesund and Bergen, it takes you much longer than travelling by plane, but you have greater flexibility and you have the opportunity to experience more along the way.

The most common route between Aalesund and Bergen, is via Stryn and “Sognefjellet” (Sogn mountain) and from there onwards via Førde. The drive takes approx. 7 hours and 30 minutes. Travelling from Ålesund to Bergen on the express bus is a good alternative to driving, and certainly a more environmentally friendly alternative. The express bus has one daily departure, and the bus ride lasts for approximately 9 hours and 30 minutes, through beautiful fjord landscape. The bus offers free wifi and usually makes a couple of longer stops along the way, so you have the opportunity to stretch your legs and get some snacks.
If you travel on Hurtigruten (The Norwegian Coastal Voyager) from Ålesund to Bergen, you travel along Norway's beautiful coastal landscape. The trip takes a little over 12 hours. On Hurtigruten you can relax, read a book at your leisure and just enjoy the trip while Hurtigruten brings you to Bergen. Don’t forget to go out on deck and experience the beautiful view.
