It is very easy to travel between Stavanger and Bergen and there are many ways to get between the two fjord cities. Choose between driving (5 hours), flying (40 min.), taking the bus (5 hours) or Fjord Line ferry (5,5 hours).

Fly from Stavanger to Bergen
By plane, the trip from Stavanger to Bergen takes no more than 40 minutes and the many daily flights make the journey always available. Sit back and enjoy the view of the fjords and mountains from the plane window. In Bergen it is easy to go between the airport and the city center, which makes flying both quick and easy from city center to city center. A perfect way to get to Bergen quickly and start exploring.

By bus
If you would rather look at the landscape up close, a bus trip with the Kystbussen bus can be a good alternative. The bus ride takes around five and a half hours and you move through the unique coastal landscape of Western Norway. Get a glimpse of fjord landscapes, high mountains and the weather-beaten coastline.
Boat along the coast
With Fjordline you can take the trip with a comfortable and modern ship along the coast to Bergen. Switch between admiring the Norwegian coastline and do some shopping on the boat or eating at one of the restaurants on board. You can travel with or without a car on the ferry and this may be one of the most comfortable way to move along the coast.
By car
If you want to drive between Stavanger and Bergen, you have great flexibility and can discover the hidden gems on the way to Bergen.

To drive takes about 5 hours and includes two ferries. If you choose the quickest route from Stavanger to Bergen, the first ferry is from Mortavika to Årsvågen (about 40 minutes from Stavanger) and the second one is after another hour and a half between Sandvikvåg and Halhjem.

Take your time to stop at small towns along the route and experience Western Norway. Depending on which route you are driving, you can experience the unique coastline of Western Norway or drive further into the country and travel through the national romantic landscape of Hardanger. There you can experience the Hardangerfjord and find the idyllic small towns along the route.
When in Bergen, you can easily park in one of the four parking garages in the city.
