About
This guided tour is packed with experiences! Along the way, you will visit the cultural Viking village of Njardarheimr, enjoy a fjord cruise on the UNESCO-listed Nærøyfjord, and, as if that weren’t enough, you will also experience the Flåm Railway, one of the most beautiful train journeys in the world.
The tour starts eastward with a minibus from the Tourist Information in Bergen, with the first sightseeing stop at the magnificent Tvindefossen waterfall. With an impressive drop of 116 meters (381 feet), this natural wonder is far from an average waterfall.
What makes Tvindefossen one of Norway’s most stunning waterfalls is not just its height or the mesmerizing flow of water; it is the legends and history surrounding it, giving the place a mysterious aura. After visiting Tvindefossen, the journey continues to Gudvangen, where we will explore the famous Viking village of Njardarheimr.
Njardarheimr takes you 1,000 years back in time, where you will meet people passionate about sharing the history of the Vikings—their travels, ships, and how the Viking Age has influenced modern society. Here, you can wander through the various buildings and activities in the Viking village and learn more about construction techniques, religion, food, and craftsmanship. Listen to stories about the Vikings, understand who they were and where they came from, and experience what it was like to be a Viking. We promise an experience that will stay in your memory.
After visiting Njardarheimr, it is time for a breathtaking fjord cruise on the Nærøyfjord. This narrow and spectacular fjord is surrounded by steep valley sides and snow-covered peaks towering 1,800 meters above sea level, with waterfalls and picturesque villages along the way. No matter the season, a cruise on the Nærøyfjord is an unforgettable experience. The two electric vessels, Vision of the Fjords and Future of The Fjords, represent a new standard in design and technology. They are built to maximize the tourist experience in all weather conditions, featuring large windows and walkways inspired by the winding trails in steep mountain terrain.
The cruise arrives in Flåm at approximately 4:30 PM, where you will have one hour of free time. Flåm is one of Norway’s most popular tourist destinations. The village has been a travel hotspot for over 100 years, ever since wealthy British tourists came to the fjords to fish for salmon in its rivers.
In Flåm, the guide will meet the group to provide more details about the rest of the tour. From Flåm, you will board the famous Flåm Railway to Myrdal Station and then continue to Bergen on the Bergen Railway. The train journey starts at the end of the Aurlandsfjord, a branch of the Sognefjord, and ascends to the high mountains at Myrdal Station, which sits 867 meters above sea level. The Flåm Railway is one of the steepest standard-gauge railway lines in the world, with 80% of the journey on a gradient of 5.5%. The train passes through spectacular landscapes, along the Rallar Road, past dizzying mountainsides, waterfalls, and through 20 tunnels, offering so many scenic viewpoints that for many travelers, a single trip up and down is not enough. The journey showcases many of the finest aspects of Western Norway’s stunning landscapes.
The scenic train ride will take approximately 3.5 hours, bringing you back to Bergen at 9:00 PM. The first train (R45 Myrdal) takes 55 minutes. You will then change trains in Myrdal, the final stop for the train from Flåm. The next train (R40 Bergen) departs from Myrdal to Bergen at 6:48 PM from Track 11. At Myrdal Station, you will have the opportunity to purchase food and snacks
